We wanted to bring you a personal story about one of our own, Quinci Bryan. You may remember Quinci from her work as an intern for us during her senior year at Eastern Oregon University in 2019. Recently Quinci was laid off due to the Covid 19 pandemic. And although she is clearly not happy about the situation /…. Thus; the FU necklace she is sporting (FU Covid 19). She does have some great suggestion about what to do NEXT.

And her recent reflections on how to deal with the reality of Covid 19.
Well, we've been at this now for a few weeks and as I walk through this challenging season in my life I find that channeling myself towards positivity is what keeps me going. Sure, snuggling up with my cats to watch True Blood for the second time is great! however, I try to not to live in that space. I try not to sit around all day even though that feels like what I'm supposed to be doing. I don't do it because I want to challenge myself to be productive and positive during this time when I am being forced to slow down. I want to use this time to better my life and determine what is worth returning to when things go back to normal. So I challenge you to:
Enjoy Slowing Down
With this time, enjoy stepping out of the rat race, enjoy not being tied to an 8-5 schedule and enjoy things that you no longer had time to do. Maybe you were in a rut before all of this started; with work, home life or your body. Now is the time to reevaluate and make the necessary moves in your life. Incorporate changes that will have an impact on your life when you return to it. Whether it be a new job, a different exercise class or maybe even marriage counseling, you have the time to really evaluate what you need and more importantly, what you don't.
Channel Your Energy
Of course binging our favorite shows feels good in the moment but then your entire day is gone and what do you have to show for it? Try channeling your energy into something positive like art, exercise or cooking. Use the extra time to pour yourself into something you no longer had time for before you were forced to slow down. Maybe you're putting more time in with your kids or partner or maybe you're using this additional time to achieve fitness goals. Whatever it may be I challenge you to shift your energy towards something that will serve you when this is all over. You don't want to come out the other side saying, "I watched shows the entire time" no, you want to come out saying, " I worked out every day and now I feel so strong" or, "I picked up a paint brush again for the first time in 10 years and created beautiful art". Don't waste this time, channel your energy where it is needed.
Reach out to your friends and family who may be pregnant, elderly or immune compromised. It always feels good to help others so offer to walk their pets, pick groceries or grab medications. Reach out and check on your people, a simple, "how are you holding up?" can go a long ways. This time may be more challenging for some people but were all in this together and we need to look out for one another. Pick up the phone, send an email or a and written note, I promise, you won't regret it.
Believe me, I want you to enjoy Netflix, I want you to relax and take it easy but I also want you to not waste this time! So channel your energy towards something positive and put this extra time to good use!
